"Anxious Garden"

Asia Morris

From the struggling houseplant next to the kitchen sink to the towering cactus in a neighbor’s front yard, Asia Morris’s art plays off the unique shapes, lines and curvatures found in every-day plant life. A Long Beach-based artist inspired by the natural world around her, Asia works mostly with acrylic paint, marker, and pen. During the isolating circumstances of the pandemic, her art practice became a means of romanticizing her immediate surroundings, a way to share with others the beauty found in objects often overlooked, an aspiration to enjoy the sameness of the every day, in a different way each time.
